Ruiter Simplicity Bike Concept
Designer Joey Ruiter’s Simplicity Bike Concept embraces minimalism, stripping down the traditional bicycle to just the essentials: two wheels, handlebars, a seat, and pedals—all connected directly to the rear wheel. This design eliminates the crank, chain, and much of the frame, resulting in a basic commuter bike focused on getting the rider from point A to point B. While the concept is visually appealing, we remain cautious about its practicality until we have the chance to test it. The lack of a gear system could limit speed, the two-bar frame might not offer enough stability or efficiency, and the seat looks less than comfortable. However, what stands out is the bike’s sleek, minimalist design, which embodies a philosophy of simplicity that could inspire other bike manufacturers.
